Binaural Beats – How To Be Smarter
NOTE: This is part one of a two-part series about brainwave entrainment, intelligence and ways to become smarter through scientifically proven methods of monaural beats, binaural beats and isochronic tones.
Can You Use Binaural Beats to Increase Your Intelligence?
There are some people who are super smart and other people who are really dumb. This is a phenomenon that I have observed since I started with primary-school. I am pretty sure that you have noticed this phenomenon too, so let me ask you: do you think that intelligence is something that you are born with?In this article I am going to try to prove to you that intelligence can be learned (through binaural beats) so don’t click away just yet.
I personally believe that intelligence has a lot to do with your upbringing and your education in the very early years. I don’t mean so much what you learn in school, but what you learn from your parents and those around you from the day you are born. I believe that everyone starts off with roughly the same potential for intelligence but it depends on those crucial initial years to see how much that intelligence will develop.
Even when someone’s intelligence is not encouraged or developed early on, I believe it is not destroyed and it still remains. It just becomes hidden under layers of false beliefs and self-limiting beliefs. All those teachers and kids who told you that you are not so smart, and all the test results to prove it only work to reinforce the belief that you are not intelligent and never will be.
I never believed that I was really smart. Neither did I believe I was dumb.
I always thought I was smart, but never among the Einstein type of smart. That is why I always got grades of 70-90% in school and never much higher. Of course, the fact that I thought that school was pretty pointless and getting 100% wasn’t worth the effort also contributed to me being satisfied with being reasonably smart but never the smartest.
Now that I am out of school and I am responsible for my own life and building it up, being very smart is something that sounds appealing to me. There is a saying that I am sure you are familiar with:
“Work smarter not harder”
This scientifically proven principle is referred to as ‘Brainwave Entrainment’. (Explained later on). The three ways of brainwave entrainment via auditory stimuli (related to hearing) that I will mention in this article are called monaural beats, binaural beats and isochronic tones.
Each of these forms of auditory brainwave entrainment have different effects and different purposes (More on this later). In order not to overwhelm you with information, I will cover each of these forms in a separate article, and this article is only about binaural beats.
Binaural Beats, Waves and Frequencies For More Brainpower
The basic principle of brainwave entrainment has been around for decades – way before we were able to scientifically prove- and expand on it.Albert Einstein for example would listen to Mozart’s music to inspire him. Whether it was by chance or by skill, Mozart was able to compose music that had similar effect to modern-day engineered binaural beats and isochronic tones. Mr Einstein was not certain why Mozart’s music had a positive effect on his thinking, intelligence and creativity. He just knew intuitively that it had that effect and did not need to delve into why it worked in order to get the benefits from it.
As you may know, many things in our world consist of waves of many ranges of frequencies:
Light
Light consists of waves. Different frequencies of light waves result in our brains perceiving different colors. Some frequencies of light waves cannot even be seen by us (infrared).
Sound
Sound consists of waves. They travel slower than light (you see lightning before you hear the thunder). Various frequencies of sound waves result in different pitches and tones. There is actually a science behind making good music. Good music uses waves of frequencies that compliment each other (different notes and tones). Bad music consists of sound waves with frequencies that interfere with each other.
The Ocean
The ocean is the literal interpretation of the word ‘waves’. A constant rhythmic motion with waves of all sizes and frequencies. Some of them collide with one-another and others break on the shore.
Drop something in a pool of water and see the ripples that result from it. These ripples are all waves of different sizes and frequencies.
Scientists have discovered and researched waves and frequencies for years.
They have proven brainwave entrainment by many studies and tests of creating different frequencies and exposing a person to these different frequencies. They discovered that it is possible to stimulate certain parts of the brain for desired (and usually long-lasting) results. Have a look at the table below on binaural beats.
What Is Brainwave Entrainment
Brainwave entrainment is a process whereby an external stimulus is used [usually auditory - for example binaural beats] to get the brainwaves to synchronise to that stimulus in order to achieve a desired result.Phew, that sounds complicated! Let me break it down for you:
Our brain uses all sorts of waves of different frequencies to process information. Scientists have discovered that it is possible to channel and organise certain brainwaves via auditory stimulation to create desired effects (such as increases in creativity, memory improvement, deep relaxation etc.). In other words, brainwave entrainment is using a external stimulus to synchronise the brain to a certain frequency.
Brainwave entrainment is usually done through auditory stimulus but it can also be visual (through the use of strobe lights, a dream machine or electromagnetic radiation. I am just going to focus on the auditory forms of brainwave entrainment.
These auditory forms of brainwave entrainment (as I mentioned earlier) are binaural beats, monaural beats and isochronic tones.
What Are Binaural Beats?
Binaural beats are used with stereo headphones. Each ear receives a slightly different frequency of engineered tones in order to get a desired effect. (The frequencies depend on what part of the brain is going to be stimulated for a certain effect like creativity or relaxation, i.e. different frequencies for different results).
The slight difference in frequencies played through the stereo headphones results in the brain perceiving a beating tone as if the two tones were mixed naturally in the brain.
Frequencies are measured in Hertz (Hz). In the case of binaural beats, each ear receives a different frequency as I mentioned above. For example, one ear would receive 495Hz and the other ear 505Hz, which results in a beating frequency of 10Hz. (Don’t worry about the units, I am just using them as an example to illustrate howbinaural beats work). It is said that this resulting tone alters the state of mind and can thus create positive change for various aspects of the brain.
Benefits Of Binaural Beats
So far I have explained that binaural beats are engineered tones of a specific frequency to obtain a desired effect. If you are still wondering what the benefits are of listening to binaural beats, let me list a few:- Anxiety Aid
- Confidence
- Creativity
- Concentration & ability to focus
- Health
- Motivation
- Prosperity
- Stress-release
- Weight-loss

Lucid Dreaming with Binaural Beats
Lucid dreaming is the art of the ability to control your dreams. The purpose it to be totally aware and concious while dreaming, so that you can imagine anything you want. It can be inspired or initiated through the use of binaural beats.
When I first heard of this concept, the question in my mind is WHY would anyone want to be able to control their dreams? Well, we spend between one-third and half of our entire lives asleep. It would be nice to get something more out of all those hours than just sleep with little recollection of anything we dreamed of.
Lucid dreaming is by no means a new phenomenon nor is it some futuristic ability that has not been done before. There is evidence about people practicing this technique as far back as 400 AD and the possibility of lucid dreaming has been scientifically proven.
People who have mastered the art of lucid dreaming say they have out-of-body experiences, as if they are literally floating outside of their bodies while they are in that altered state. (They claim that these experiences are absolutely amazing).
I will not expand on lucid dreaming, but if you want to know more you can buy ‘lucid dreaming’ binaural beats here. -
Meditation with Binaural Beats
“Meditation is very important. It has a very high objective – to take us away from this world of suffering into the world of happiness, joy and Bliss. It is a method, a discipline, that we have to follow very discreetly and if we follow it properly we will find that meditation helps us to discover ourselves, what we really are. As we get deeper into meditation we come nearer to the Source of our Being.” – Swami Nirliptananda
To keep it brief, if you are like most people then you constantly have many thoughts running through your mind all the time. Your mind is always busy and always gives you something to dream or worry about. Through meditation, you can learn to silence all the thoughts in your mind when you want to, and this provides a deep sense of peace and inner calm.
There are binaural beats designed specifically to help and induce mediation. Find out about these binaural beats here.
My Experience With Binaural Beats
In the last few months I have been listening to binaural beats. I cannot say that I am more intelligent or that I am any smarter than I was before the time. What I can tell you is that stress, anxiety and any worries totally fade away while listening to some of the binaural beat soundtracks I have purchased. It’s pretty amazing, I can literally feel myself relax while I listen to them. The results of being so totally relaxed are that I can focus a lot better on my work and that I am more creative. It may just be a co-incidence but I highly doubt it. The fact that hundreds of people have reported similar effects of positive change after listening to binaural beats, combined with the fact that I have personally experienced it, must mean that there is a large amount of truth to it.
I didn’t write this post for the sake of making sales and commissions for binaural beats. I wrote it because since I got out of school I have been very interested in psychology and the science of the mind – the science of intelligence and anything to do with it.
Whenever there is a product or a scientifically proven method that enhances brainpower or a method that makes someone smarter, I want to know about it. If it works, I will share it with my friends and readers.
How To Use Binaural Beats
You don’t need to have any knowledge about brainwave entrainment, binaural beats or the human brain to be able to get the effects from listening to binaural beat tracks.
The information in this article is enough to give you a good enough background if you feel you need an understanding about the principle. If you have read this far, you know enough.
After this paragraph I am going to show you where you can get hold of binaural beat tracks that you can listen to on your computer, ipod or player of your choice, as long as they can have stereo headphones connected to them.
The stereo headphones are essential to the purpose of listening to binaural beats because of the fact that each ear needs to receive a different frequency in order for the beating tone to be created inside the brain.
Where To Get Binaural Beats
At this point:- You know that binaural beats are scientifically engineered soundtracks that you listen to with stereo headphones to improve various areas of your brain.
- You know that binaural beats have a different frequency tone for each ear which causes a beating tone in the brain, the purpose being to synchronise brainwaves with the beat of the soundtrack to create an altered state and achieve specific effects (increased intelligence, focus, creativity etc.).
- You know that it is not important to understand how binaural beats work or how they are created in order to get the benefits from listening to them
How It Works
When you land on The Unexplainable Store’s homepage, you will have 28 different categories of binaural beat soundtracks to choose from. Each soundtrack has a different purpose and will achieve a different result (see the screenshot below). When you click on a category, for example ‘Meditation’, you will be given an in-depth explanation of that specific type of binaural beat soundtrack.
For each category, you have the option of monaural beats, binaural beats and isochronic tones. (I will cover both monaural beats and isochronic tones in 2 following articles).
The great thing about The Unexplainable Store is that you are able to purchase individual binaural beat soundtracks. They range from $10 up to $60 per soundtrack so if you are completely new to it, you can start with just one soundtrack without spending a whole lot of money on something you are not sure about.
If you cannot see the image above, CLICK HERE to purchase binaural beat soundtracks.
I hope that you enjoyed reading this article and that you learned something new today. It personally took me many hours of reading and research before I had a decent understanding of brainwave entrainment and the benefits of binaural beats. If you are still a little confused about the matter, don’t worry. The next article about monaural beats and isochronic tones will clarify things a little more.
